As concluded from the latest statistics, the use of the Municipal wi-Fi network by the citizens is continuously increasing.
Following the technological developments aiming at providing maximum service to the citizens, e-trikala S.A. Research & Development department studied and implemented an alternative interface and created a combined network. In addition, 5 of 15 nodes are powered by the fiber optic network (bulk data and higher bandwidth for a larger number of users) and 4 are connected with the transmission technology Wi-Max (pilot operation).
The changes made to the system during the past few months have contributed to the stability of the network and resulted in an increase in the number of users who use the Municipality’s free wireless network, on a daily basis. More specifically, at 350 users per day has been an increase of 30% and based on the new data, daily on line users are amounted to 500.
Also important to mention is that during the last 4 months, there were 900 new passwords.
To indicate, we present the latest data of the 10th of September 2009. The following table shows the nodes and the number of users that day.
